Spotweld Log File

A spotweld .log file is written in the directory from which HyperMesh is invoked. The .log file contains information pertaining to the failed spotweld elements.

Contents of Spotweld Log File

  • The date and time of execution.
  • Weld node or point IDs with their coordinates.
  • Number of layers being welded (2T/3T/4T).
  • HyperMesh component IDs being welded in the case of welds created from macros.
  • Reason for failure.
  • In case of welds that are created but not normal to the shell elements, the orientation (angle) of the welds with respect to the shell element plane is also printed. The angular tolerance specified is (+/-) 5 degrees.
  • When welds are created using macros a message is printed specifying any 3T to 2T or 4T to 3T/2T conversions with point ID and location.

File Format

The message written out to the weld file depends on the type of weld being created. The formats written out for various weld types are shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.
