Manage Quotas and Alerts

Use resource quotas and alerts to control cloud bursting.

Add Quotas and Alerts

Add optional resource quotas and alerts to control cloud bursting.

To control cloud bursting, quotas can be added to define bursting limits for the following resources:
  • the number of CPUs
  • the amount of RAM
  • the amount of nodes
  • the amount of node hours
Once the limit is reached, additional nodes are not burst. Optionally, alerts can also be defined so that an email is sent by a SMTP server when a limit is reached.
Note: The SMTP server is configured during installation of Control by your site's system administrator.
  1. Login to Control.
  2. Click the Cloud tab.
  3. Click Bursting from the Infrastructure menu located on the left-hand side of the web page.
  4. Select a bursting scenario by clicking its name.
  5. Click Node.
  6. Scroll to the Quotas section.
  7. When there are existing quotas, click Edit.
  8. Click Add Quota.
  9. For Resource type, choose a resource from the menu.
  10. Click Add Quota.
  11. For Limit, provide a limit for the resource.
When the limit is reached for the resource, the deployment of further cloud burst nodes is blocked.
  12. To add an alert, click Add.
  13. Provide an alert value.
When the alert value is reached, an email is sent if an SMTP server is configured.
  14. Repeat steps 8 through 13 to add quotas and alerts for other resources types.
  15. Click Save.
