Tags Panel

Use the Tags panel to assign names to nodes, elements, lines, surfaces, points, and solids. An entity name is then used to reference the entity across multiple versions of the same model.

For example, if you have several designs for a control arm, the appropriate nodes in each model, are tagged, as well as the corresponding nodes on the subframe. You can then write a macro that assembles the model by linking the components. This procedure automates the assembly process by allowing you to plug-in any compatible design for the control arm.

A tag consists of a label and a body, and must be assigned to an entity. It is suggested that you use the body to specify the component (ControlArm) and the label for the location on that component (TopLeftSide). You may also use your own naming conventions.

In the modeling window, a tag displays as the text of the label, next to the corresponding entity. In the Display panel, it appears as label:body.
