Rotational Inertia

  1. On the Project Tree, open the Analysis Workbench.
  2. Click on the desired Analysis branch.
  3. Next to Loads, click Add.
  4. Choose (Inertia) > Rotational inertia from the list of loads.
    The Rotational inertia dialog opens.
  5. Verify the Parts tab is selected.
  6. Apply inertia to parts of the model in one of the following ways:
    • Choose the Apply to all parts radio button to apply inertia to all parts in the model.
    • Choose the Apply to selected parts radio button. Then, in the modeling window, choose the desired parts.
  7. Click the Axis tab.
  8. Specify the Origin value and units.
  9. Specify the Direction for the X, Y, and Z axes.
  10. Optional: You can use the Flip axis button to reverse the direction value for all axes.
  11. Click the Acceleration tab.
  12. Specify Acceleration along axis (value and units), Angular velocity (value and units), and Angular acceleration (value and units)
  13. Click OK.
    The load appears under the Load branch in the Project Tree. A vector representing the load appears in the modeling window.
