Boundary Conditions

- Constraints
  Restrict or limit movement in specific regions of the model.

Design Study
Design studies allow you to quickly evaluate and compare the structural performance from different design scenarios.

Force/Displacement

Apply a total force to selected part faces or spots.

Force and prescribed displacement are defined as a load on the model. They can be applied from the same dialog.

On the Project Tree, open the Analysis Workbench.
Click on the desired Analysis branch.
Next to Loads, click Add.
Choose (Force/Displacement) from the list of loads.
The Force/Displacement dialog opens.
In the modeling window, select faces or spots.
Optional: If applying to Faces, you can select the Add tangent faces check box.
Specify units for Force and Displacement.
For each axis, specify whether you are applying a Force or a Displacement load.
1. Click the gray arrow next to Force.
2. Select either Force or Displ. from the list.
Specify Force/Displacement value for each axis.
For Non-linear structural analysis, specify either follower force or fixed direction force for each axis.
1. Click the (Follower load) icon.
  The icon is highlighted. This designates a follower force.
2. Leave the icon unhighlighted to designate fixed direction force.
Click OK.
