Heat Flux

Specify rate of heat energy transfer through a given surface per unit of time.

Heat rate is given in Watts. Watts are defined as Joules per second. Heat flux is then Watts per unit of area. For example, in SI units, this is given as watt/m2.

  1. On the Project Tree, open the Analysis Workbench.
  2. Next to the Thermal analysis branch, click (Expand).
  3. Next to Thermal conditions, click > Flux.
  4. In the modeling window, select one or more faces.
The faces are listed in the Heat flux dialog.
  5. Optional: Select the Add tangent faces check box.
  6. For Flux, specify a value and unit.
  7. Click OK.
