Composite Size Panel

Use the Composite Size panel to define manufacturing constraints for composite sizing optimization.

Location: Analysis page > Optimization panel ( OptiStruct user profile)

Create Subpanel

Option Action
dcomp Specify a name for the manufacturing constraint.
type
Select the type of manufacturing constraint to create.
Note: PCOMP(G) covers both PCOMP and PCOMPG.
entity selector Select laminates or properties.

Update Subpanel

Option Action
dcomp Enter the name of an existing constraint in the text area, or double-click to select an existing constraint.
type

entity selector Select laminates or properties.

Parameters Subpanel

Option Action
dcomp Select the DCOMP design variable.
laminate thickness: min thickness / off Enter a value for the minimum laminate thickness (LAMTHK) or switch to off.
laminate thickness: max thickness / off Enter a value for the maximum laminate thickness (LAMTHK) or switch to off.
ply thickness: no. of constraints Number of constraints for ply thickness (PLYTHK).
ply percentage: no. of constraints Number of constraints for ply thickness percentage (PLYPCT).
balance: no. of constraints Number of constraints for balancing (BALANCE).
constant: no. of constraints Number of constraints for constant thickness (CONST).
ply drop-off: no. of constraints Number of constraints for ply drop-off (PLYDRP).

Edit Card Image Subpanel

The Edit Card Image opens when you click Edit from the Parameters subpanel.
Option Action
PLYTHK Apply ply thickness constraints.
PLYPCT Apply ply percentage constraints.
BALANCE Apply balancing constraints.
CONST Apply constant thickness constraints.

Command Buttons

Button Action
create Create new manufacturing constraint.
edit Open the specified constraint's card image, allowing you to alter its ply-related characteristics.
reject Revert the creation of a constraint.
return Exit the panel.
review Highlight the specified constraint, and display its current characteristics in the input fields.
update Update the selected constraint's characteristics or parameters to match your inputs.
