Horizons

Use Horizons tool to check & fix intersections, crossings and penetrations between components classified as Formation Horizon in the GeoD Model tool.

Use the Horizons tool to fix intersections and penetrations in the model. GeoD helps identify and fix these in various ways.
From GeoD ribbon, Fix group, select Horizons.
Figure 1.

The available functions are

  1. Intersect All-
Intersects the elements of the older horizon found to be within the user specified interaction region with the younger horizon, stitches the intersection and remeshes the seam (manifold edge) to give high quality elements around the cut patch.
  2. Push All
Pushes the interfering regions of the older horizon below the younger horizon by the user set value.
    Before After
    Figure 2.
    Figure 3.
Two horizons intersecting and a region of elements are penetrating each other. Once the intersection and penetration between the horizons are fixed, either by intersecting or pushing away the layers, the region of interaction are removed.
Older horizons are modified to accommodate these changes.

Auto Method

Auto method can be used to detect and apply the selected fix automatically for the selected horizons. You can select the displayed components at once or select required components from the graphics area.

Available options are-

  1. Highlighted flash icon states Auto method
  2. Select Displayed Horizons
  3. Select Horizons

  5. Reset selection
  6. Perform Operation; two different operations are described above.

Manual Method

The Manual method can be used to find and fix the individual intersections and penetrations interactively. Once an intersection or penetration is found, you can push the selected elements or cut and stitch.
