PARAM, SMDISP

Bulk Data Entry This parameter is used to specify that small displacement formulation or large displacement formulation is used.

Note: Obsolete parameter - use RADPRM, SMDISP.
Parameter Values Description
SMDISP <0, 1> This parameter is used to specify that small displacement formulation or large displacement formulation is used. It affects Geometric Nonlinear Implicit Static Analysis (ANALYSIS = NLGEOM) and Geometric Nonlinear Implicit Dynamic Analysis (ANALYSIS = IMPDYN).
When large displacement effects are negligible, "PARAM, SMDISP, 1" could be used to improve the convergence and performance.
0 (Default)
Use large displacement formulation.
1
Use small displacement formulation.
