The Model Browser allows you to view the MotionView model structure while providing display and editing control of entities.
The MotionView ribbons allows you to quickly access tools and standard functions, and is located along the top of MotionView.
Create and edit systems, assemblies, and analyses, use wizards to build models quickly, create and edit belt/pullies, NLFE stabars, and NLFE springs, access the EDEM and Track Builder tools.
A system is a modeling container entity that has its definition saved inline into the same file as its parent container.
Assemblies are systems and sub-systems that can be created interactively or through a text editor using the Systems entity. Create and edit models using the Assembly Wizard, systems, and subsystems.
In MotionView, an analysis is a container entity that can contain collections of the loads, motions, and entities that describe the event to be simulated for a model. A model can contain any number of analyses but only one analysis can be active at a given instance. When a model is run in MotionView, a particular analysis is selected and MotionView includes the loads and motions described in the analysis when it submits the model to the solver.
The attachments specified during the assembly process (using the Assembly Wizard dialog) can be modified using the Attachment Wizard, located on the Model menu. The Attachment Wizard dialog guides you through the process of modifying the model attachments.
The Task Wizard dialog allows you to select the analysis tasks to be run.
The Set Wizard Path dialog allows you to set the directories in which the several files are stored.
In MotionView, models are assembled from libraries of pre-defined systems using the Assembly Wizard, located on the Model menu. The Assembly Wizard dialog guides you through the assembly process, ensuring that your selections are compatible.
In a belt-pulley system, a long flexible belt is used to transmit mechanical power by wrapping the belt around rotating pulleys. The power is transmitted due to friction between the belt and pulley surface. The belt-pulley subsystem in MotionView helps assemble such a system very quickly with a minimal inputs such as pulley center position, radius, and belt properties.
A stabar, also known as anti-roll bar, is a member that is used in automobile suspensions to increase roll stiffness. This helps reduce the body roll of a vehicle during cornering or when the vehicle traverses on road undulations.
A helical spring, or a coil spring, is a member that stores energy and subsequently releases it. A helical spring is used in various applications like: automobile suspensions, engine valves, measuring scales, box springs, etc. An NLFE helical spring system is a MotionView system definition that can be used to represent a spring as a non-linear finite element body.
The EDEM menu provides access to tools related to the MotionSolve - EDEM cosimulation interface.
The Track Builder utility provides access to tools used for building track systems.
While assembling a model with different sub-assemblies, it is often necessary to connect or refer entities in one container to entities in another container. To retain modularity of the container entity so that they can be reused in a different context, it is recommended that you define connections to external entities by declaring them as attachments.
Create and edit points, bodies, lines (curve graphics), solids (graphics), markers and vectors, edit grounded/ungrounded bodies, create and edit rigid body groups, configure gravity, and select material properties.
Create and edit various model entities.
Create and edit outputs, create and edit templates, run the solver, view reports, access the Load Export utility, use the Optimization Wizard, open HyperStudy, utilize many pre-processing and post-processing capabilities with regards to flexible bodies (or flexbodies), run MS/EDEM cosimulation in batch mode, and generate H3D from EDEM.
