Altair HyperView 2021 Release Notes
General
Highlights
- Post-Processing in HyperWorks
- Hotspot Finder to help find critical regions in the model
- Extract Data tool for finding contour data
- User-defined Moving Systems
- Expanded HWC Language coverage
New Features
- Post-Processing in HyperWorks
-
With this release, post-processing profiles (HyperView,
HyperGraph, MediaView, TableView, TextView) are fully integrated with
HyperWorks. Some highlights are as follows:
- Supports multi-window/page post-processing sessions with a dedicated browser and toolbar for page navigation.
- Commonly used tools organized in a new Results ribbon, other tools available via Tools Menu.
- New search bar to quickly find and open tools.
- View toolbar with several useful tools to control view and display/visualization.
- New Idle mode
- Hover over and interrogate various model entities without needing to use any dedicated tools. Key entity information is displayed in a tool tip.
- Use the entity selector embedded in the modeling window to select various types of entities and perform several operations. You can change visibility, color, or other properties via context menu or keyboard shortcuts.
- Live query– Works in conjunction with the Idle entity selector and provides useful information in real time based on what’s selected in the modeling window.
- When you make a selection in Idle mode, the entity is automatically highlighted in the modeling window and the Results browser. You can also push selections to certain panels, such as the contour panel, for further processing.
- Hotspot finder – A powerful tool to identify and show hotspots in your simulation.
Note: There are some differences in entity selection highlighting style between HyperMesh and HyperView. This will be addressed in a future release. - Hotspot Finder
- The Hotspot finder applies filters to help you find critical regions of your model based on a plotted result. It also helps you plot the search results with annotations and display a selective amount of details on screen.
- Extract Data
- Use this tool to extract contour data along a path defined on solid elements. The extracted data can be visualized as a curve or exported to a csv file. Extract Data is now available along with Stress Linearization in a single tool which has been renamed Extract and Linearize. In addition, new plot options are now available for stress linearization.
- User Defined Moving Systems
- You can now define systems that update with deformation in HyperView. You can use them as resolved-in systems to transform results, or as tracking systems to remove rigid body motion.
- Record and Playback
- HWC (HyperWorks Command language) coverage, which allows users to record
and playback workflows in HyperView, has been expanded for the following
features:
- Measures
- Systems
- Scales (Deformed)
Enhancements
- Direct Support for Model Hierarchy in HV-Upfront Data Loading profile
- Includes, Assembly, and Parts hierarchical information can now be read directly from the solver input deck and displayed in the Results browser. In previous releases of HyperView Upfront Data loading, this information had to be imported using the Tools > Extract Solver Data option.
- Support for Multiple Result files in Report Templates
- Report Templates can now be used for single model and multiple result files use cases in HyperView. The result files are saved as parameters in the template with a special syntax to facilitate the selection and replacement of result files belonging to a particular model.
- Support of UTF-8 for Session Files and Report Templates
- UTF-8 paths are supported for both Session Files and Report Templates. The support of Unicode character allows you to use Chinese symbols for example in Report parameters.
- Other
-
- A smooth transition effect is implemented when opening a model or changing model views. This is applicable only to orthogonal views.
- Selection of elements or nodes by face is now extended to solid elements.
- A new HVTrans command line option -ns is added to exclude sets when translating model data.
- New preference statement to set Contour result component is introduced.
- Templex expressions are now supported for HWD Page titles
Known Issues
- Capture Rectangle Video
- In Next Generation HyperWorks, capturing videos using File > Screen Capture > Video to File > Rectangle fails when you have a page layout with multiple active windows, or when you use a multiple monitor setup with a difference in display scalings of 50% or higher.
- Display Scaling
- On Windows, the graphical user interface (for example the Clear button in FBD) might get cut off when the display is scaled (for example 125% on a 1920 x 1080 screen size). Resizing the dialog will fix this issue.
Resolved Issues
- Realistic Rendering mode in H3D is not displayed in standalone HyperView Player installation.
- Application hangs after adding a page and changing the format in tag table.
- Empty labels are created in the Result browser after deleting an image plane.
- Incorrect format in solver deck (Dyna format) is exported from HyperView.
- Slowdown in animation when page contains multiple linked plot windows.
- Application crashes when a cross model measure resolved in user system with live link curve is deleted.
- Note fill color changes when border color matches fill color.
- Global display tools and Isolate on Part folders in Parts View are not working.
- Reverse Display option in Results Browser is not working for materials and properties.
- Image color in H3D is not restored upon import.
- Parameter browser does not update automatically after performing certain tasks such as add/delete notes, measures, sections.
- FBD summary table is not showing values if summation node is not part of the cross-section nodes.
- Upfront Data
Loading:
- Sorting not working for Cached and iso columns in the Load Data browser.
- Contour plot after copy-paste does not match the plot in original window.
- Model file list does not update after deleting a model.
- Context menu options incorrectly greyed out when selecting multiple definitions.
- Time scales info is not copied to destination window.
- User defined system not updating properly while editing with different method types.
- Customization API ::hwf::getopenfile is not working for multiple files.
- HWC: Legend Configuration Tcl file exported in GUI failed at import via HWC Command.
- HWC: Recorded commands with a huge number of characters are not being displayed.
- HWC: Tcl wrapper failed for recorded commands with labels containing commas with no blanks around.
- HWC: Escape sequence "\\," not used for recording/copying to Tcl writing labels with commas in label lists.
- HWC: Escape sequence for rectangular and curly braces is missing for text and labels.
