Volume Expansion/Shrinkage

Apply volumetric expansion/shrinkage coefficient over seam welds or other parts in the assembly.

Volumetric expansion works similarly to thermal expansion on a body. A volumetric expansion of 100% would yield similar result as thermal load of 1 °C with a thermal expansion coefficient of 1/°C. This option also allows you to study volumetric shrinkage studies by applying a negative coefficient value.

  1. In the Project Tree, open the Analysis Workbench.
  2. On the workbench toolbar, click (Volumetric expansion/shrinkage).
  3. In the modeling window, click to select specific parts on the model.
  4. In the Volume expansion/shrinkage dialog, specify the Expansion/shrinkage coefficient.
  5. Click OK.
