Defining an Output Using Two Points

Through this method, a displacement , velocity, or acceleration between two bodies can be measured relative to each other.

  1. Select Two Points from the Ouput Method drop-down menu.
  2. Click the Body 1 collector and pick the first body for the output request from the modeling window, or double-click the collector to display the Model Tree (from which the desired body can be selected).
  3. Similarly, pick the body for the Body 2 collector.
  4. Click the Point collector under Pt on Body 1 and pick the point for the location on Body 1.
  5. Select the point for the location on Body 2.
  6. Pick a reference marker for the output.
The default marker is the global frame.
  7. Select I Marker, J Marker, or Both from the drop-down menu next to the Ref Marker collector.
Selecting I Marker results in defining the output for Body 1 relative to Body 2 only. Selecting J Marker results in defining the output for Body 2 relative to Body 1 only. Selecting Both defines both of these outputs.
Note: The points and bodies on which the output is requested cannot be pair entities.
