Define Rotational Periodic Conditions

Use the Periodic: Rotation tool to define periodic boundaries with rotational periodicity. Rotational periodic boundary conditions specify that the values of all variables on surface pairs are equal.

  1. From the Flow ribbon, click the Periodic > Rotation tool.

    Figure 1.
  2. Select source surfaces.
If target surfaces are already selected, updating the source selection will reset the existing target selection.
  3. Click the Target selector on the guide bar.
  4. Select target surfaces.
You will only be able to select surfaces which can form rotational periodicity with the source selection.

If any of the source surfaces don't have a compatible target surface, the tool will not allow you to select any target surfaces.

Upon valid target selection, a preview of the transformation axis displays.
  5. Optional: In the dialog, specify precedence, active type, and linked surface outputs.
The active type determines if the periodicity definition is considered or not.
  6. From the guide bar, execute the command in the following ways:
    • Click to confirm your selection and remain in the tool.

This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you visualize and edit instances with the legend.

    • Click to confirm your selection and exit the tool.
