Create Clips

Use the Box and Scalar Clip tools to hide portions of your model, allowing you to better view areas of interest.

Multiple clips can be enabled at the same time.

Create Box Clips

Cut away portions of your model using the physical dimensions of a box.

  1. From the Post ribbon, Clips tool group, click the Box Clip tool.

  2. Select the entities to on which to apply the clip.
  3. Click Box on the guide bar.
    An initial bounding box is draw around the selected entities.
  4. Change the size and position of the box in the following ways:
    • Click and drag a face.
    • Click to orient the box using the Move tool.
    • Enter precise length, width, and height values.
    • Click return the box to it's initial positioning.
  5. Choose whether to clip the content that is inside of the box or outside of the box.
  6. Click Calculate.
    A Clip entity is created and added to the Post Browser. Click on the entity icon in the tree to turn a clip on or off.
  7. On the guide bar, click one of the following:
    • - Save changes and remain in the tool
    • - Save changes and exit the tool

Create Scalar Clips

Cut away portions of your model using a range of values for a specified scalar.

  1. From the Post ribbon, Clips tool group, click the Scalar Clip tool.

  2. Select the entities to on which to apply the clip.
  3. Select a scalar from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter a range of values to consider.
    Tip: Click to reset the range.
  5. Choose whether to clip the scalar values that are within our outside of the given range.
    For example, if you select some surfaces, set the scalar to velocity and enter a range of (0, 0.5), you can hide the portions of those surfaces where velocity is greater than 0.5.
  6. Click Calculate.
    A Clip entity is created and added to the Post Browser. Click on the entity icon in the tree to turn a clip on or off.
  7. On the guide bar, click one of the following:
    • - Save changes and remain in the tool
    • - Save changes and exit the tool
