Move Faces

Translate, rotate, copy, or extend features.

The Move Faces tool works the same way as the Move tool, but can be used only for holes, pockets, and surface features. It does not work on edges.

Move holes, pockets, and surface features.

  1. On the Geometry tab, in the Modify group, click the Move Faces tool.

  2. Select features to move.
    • To select multiple objects, hold down Ctrl while clicking.
    • To select adjacent features, double-click.
  3. Choose from the following options:
    To Do this

Translate along an axis Drag the arrows.
Translate within a plane Drag the squares.

Note:
  • All features being moved must be located on the same part.
  • While translating or rotating, selected objects snap to discrete positions along the axes and compass that appear with the Move Faces tool, or to snap points on other objects. You can temporarily disable snapping by holding down the Alt key.
  • Double-click a manipulator or hold down Shift while dragging to reposition or reorient the tool. This is useful if you want to change the center of rotation.
  • Use the icons on the microdialog to align the Move Faces tool to the selected feature's local or global axes.
