The following issues were resolved for the 2019 releases.

Resolved Issues: 2019.4.1

  • Added a new geometry reader for JT models. It now reads up to version 10.4.
  • Updated file import/export versions to JT 10.4, NX CR version 1888, SolidWorks 2020, and Inventor 2020.
  • Modified the names of the DOF shown in the properties when cylindrical systems are used. [IN-20742]
  • Fixed traceback errors that would occur when using plot template files under the non-English language profiles. [IM-3123]
  • Updated the solver for Print3D to fix an issue during heating of layers.

Resolved Issues: 2019.4

  • Fixed an issue where if you orient or rotate a part that belongs to a larger assembly in order to prepare the part for 3D printing, that part will no longer be in the correct orientation with respect to the assembly. Now assemblies used in Structures and Motion will not be impacted by operations required to set up parts for 3D printing, and you can switch seamlessly between Print3D and the other tabs on the ribbon.
  • Addressed plotting ambiguity issues by introducing cascaded menu buttons when there is more than one result for a given entity, such as one pin joint going through multiple parts. [IM-2406, IM-2796, IM-3027]
  • Corrected data entry issues affecting stiffness and damping properties for motion contacts. [IM-2651, IM-3008, IM-3009]
  • Restored entity buttons on the Force Explorer that were accidentally hidden when using the Exclude for Parts plots setting. [IM-2653]
  • Updated the Profile Editor so there are fewer autofit actions happening when manually editing curve data graphically, like adding or adjusting points on nonlinear spring curves. [IM-2841]
  • Corrected MDL export for damper-only cases so that spring graphic entities are not created. [IM-2874]
  • Fixed reported traceback encountered in the Joints tool while picking connectors inside holes. [IM-2876]
  • Improved picking operation for couplers when candidates lie behind a transparent part. [IM-2855]
  • Fixed a units handling issue where entering a value for the initial velocity without units was problematic for acceleration actuators and motors. [IM-2869]
  • Updated MDL export to include color setting of coil springs in motion models. [IM-2871]
  • Changed motion realization of a force on an edge to apply the force at the location rather than treating it like a distributed force as in previous releases. [IM-2875]
  • Fixed part color rendering for individualized motion contacts so that parts in the red set and blue set are distinguishable. [IM-2878]
  • Addressed usability issues and fixed reported traceback seen in the Couplers tool. [IM-2909, IM-2921, IM-2950, IM-2978]
  • Fixed problems associated with persistent measures that utilized center snaps on systems. [IM-2953, IM-2998]
  • Updated plot zooming so that using the Shift key while zooming will keep the y-axis limits fixed and zoom in on x only. [IM-2958]
  • Corrected a problem where motion analysis would not run if an actuator was named "load". [IM-2979]
  • Restored missing results of displacement, velocity, and acceleration for motion plots of structures forces. [IM-3050]
  • Added an Isolate button to the right-click context menu for the Rigid Groups table. [IM-3054]
  • Fixed reported traceback seen when using motion analysis after the part configuration Reverse All operation. [IM-3096]

Resolved Issues: 2019.3.2

  • The solver console window for Print3D is now hidden when running an analysis. Users can check the run status in the status bar at the bottom of the modeling window, or by using the Run Status tool on the Analyze icon.
  • Fixed an issue with text spacing in the Orientation table to improve the visualization when new rows are added.
  • Fixed several issues when using the Undo operation in Print3D.

  • Corrected a visualization issue where a transparent part was not being rendered as solid as it was supposed to be while inside the Motion Contacts tool. [IM-1749]
  • Fixed an issue where a fastener pretension subcase was being written out when it should not have been for motion load extraction workflows. [IM-2508]
  • Improved table behavior for multi-select operations on cells containing checkboxes. [IM-2537]
  • Updated the behavior of tracer interpolation to better handle toggling the Animation While Solving checkbox off and on during a motion analysis. [IM-2565]
  • Added visualization options to the Profile Editor that allow you to view the extrapolation tails and change the number of points used in interpolation of data for table profiles. [IM-2661]
  • Fixed a problem where the Flip Part Order checkbox was not working properly for grounded pins. [IM-2671]
  • Fixed a traceback error that occurred while plotting part displacement when the part name contained certain non-alphanumeric characters. [IM-2715]
  • Updated drag behavior in the Profile Editor to better handle moving a data point into the negative domain. [IM-2719]
  • Updated the End Time field on the Motion Run Settings window to allow a value of zero to be entered for computing a single static equilibrium solution at time=0, for example. [IM-2726]
  • Changed the naming of certain coil spring damper plots from Spring Extension and Damper Extension to Spring Displacement and Damper Displacement respectively. [IM-2759]
  • Corrected problem where the exported MDL file contained non-unique names for outputs which was causing downstream problems in plotting. Also introduced cnames option for outputs to make plotting components more easily understood. [IM-2777, IM-2836, IM-2837, IM-2838]
  • Fixed vertical axis label text fitting problem seen in the Profile Editor when using screens with 4K resolution. [IM-2782]
  • Improved reliability of graphic manipulator drag operations for coil spring diameter. [IM-2828]
  • Updated the Auto Calculate Rates option on the Motion Run Settings window to recognize that the mass of ground parts are to be excluded from the calculation. [IM-2831]
  • Added missing initial velocity parameter to the Property Editor for motors and actuators with type=Acceleration. [IM-2834]

  • Updated MDL export to better handle models containing part or assembly instances so that the CADGraphic associations for geometry in MotionView can be properly established. When exporting the MDL file from the run settings dialog, you must use the "Save as type: MotionView 2019.1 mdl file (*.mdl)" option and then open the MDL using HyperWorks 2019.1 release (or newer).   • Corrected problem where check boxes in the Joints table would appear editable when they should not have been. [IM-59, IM-1504]
  • Changed behavior of the Motor tool to disallow the picking of a pin joint when that joint has State=Free. If the State=Locked the motor that replaces the pin will also be locked. [IM-669]
  • Fixed a problem where the number of threads used by solver was being reported incorrectly for motion contacts. [IM-1575, IM-2342, IM-2473]
  • Updated the Motion Contacts tool to improve usability; also fixed reported issues related to contact resolution mesh failures and the handling of analytical shapes (e.g. box). [IM-1740, IM-1749, IM-1988, IM-2321, IM-2384, IM-2500, IM-2543, IM-2546]

  • Corrected an issue where shape identification was failing for certain part shapes. [IM-2419, IM-2447]
  • Changed the behavior of the Coupler tool find option so that it also filters out connections to ground when using the Exclude Ground Parts/Connections option. [IM-2428]
  • Updated tooltip to include name of object when hovering over the corresponding force vector in motion animation. [IM-2472]
  • Disabled the Reverse Playback check box for motion animation in Bounce playback mode. [IM-2474]
  • Corrected configuration behavior so that motion contacts are now retained when switching between named configurations. [IM-2499]
  • Fixed problems in the Profile Editor where the color of sliders and the legend would become incorrect after certain operations. [IM-2513, IM-2575]
  • Updated the MDL export convention so that for a given motion contact that has not been individualized, it will now put the individual contacts under a single system that has a Parameters dataset to house the relevant contact properties. [IM-2514]
  • Implemented vertical line in plot area to visually indicate the motion analysis End Time for table profiles. [IM-2529]
  • Fixed a problem where the guidebar for the Actuator tool would stop working after an undo operation. [IM-2554]
  • Changed the behavior of the Ground tool so that selected parts will no longer automatically become ground parts when entering the tool. [IM-2570]
  • Updated animation convention for features-based actuators so that only the actuator shaft spins, rather than both the actuator body and shaft, for certain use cases. [IM-2600]
  • Changed the default value of Penetration Depth to 0.01 mm for motion contacts when using the Impact collision type, where previously the default was 0.1 mm. [IM-2608]
  • Exposed Profile Function as a read-only column in the Motor and Actuator tables. [IM-2663]

  • Changed the convention for what is returned when plotting joint angular displacements so that it uses AX, AY, AZ angles when plotting is set to Local to 1st part or Local to 2nd part and uses Euler angles (PSI, THETA, PHI) when plotting is set to Global. [IM-2001]
  • Fixed behavior of restore defaults button on Analyze Part and Optimize Part windows so that default values are brought back more consistently. [IM-2092]
  • Improved MDL export to address reference frame discrepancies seen when using the Local to 1st Part plotting option. [IM-2099]

  • Updated the Contacts section of the Run Motion Analysis window so the radio button text is more descriptive. [IM-2256]

  • Changed Animate: Once playback behavior for motion animation so that it does not automatically reset to the first frame, but continues from the current frame. This is useful when you are recording videos with the Once setting. [IM-2303]
  • Corrected computation of displacement used in Travel plots for LOS actuator when the controller has been disabled. [IM-2311]
  • Fixed Connected Parts mode for Actuator so that a red part pair can be de-selected when using the Ctrl key. [IM-2295]
  • Changed default value of New Step Size from 1e-3 to 5e-4 associated with the 'Refine step size' feature under Advanced section of property editor for Motion Contacts. [IM-2357]
  • Changed location of option menu to be on left side of the motion animation toolbar. [IM-2359]
  • Fixed source of application crashes that would occur when changing between named model configurations with motion analysis results present. [IM-2432]
  • Exposed underlying LuGre parameters (Bristle Stiffness, Damping Coefficient, and Viscous Coefficient) for motion joint friction, corrected missing units conversion, and changed the default value of the bristle stiffness to be 100 N/mm. [IM-2244, IM-2260]

  • Improved speed of joint creation when clicking detected features for use cases where two parts were sharing a large number of features. [IM-1939, IM-2091]
  • Introduced wait cursor for the operation of toggling off the Sum Forces check box on the Force Explorer. This provides visual feedback indicating that it is busy when displaying a large number of motion contact vectors. [IM-2032]
  • Updated the part hover tooltips for motion contacts. They now list the relevant material or rigid group when either of those filter options are being used on the guidebar during creation of a motion contact. [IM-1971]
  • The model units for motion models are now being reported (read-only) in the Property Editor under Expression Units for motors (or actuators) that are defined with a Solver Expression profile function. Now you can readily see the units corresponding to the type of actuator/motor, as well as the time unit, allowing you to ensure that the evaluated solver expression makes sense for the displayed Expression Units. You can scale the function by using the Scale Factor field; for instance, you could scale by 1e-3 if the expression was written for millimeter units, but the expression (model) units are meters.   • Updated CSV export for plots to be more WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get); if curves have been toggled off via the legend, the exported file will only have curve data for what is visible in the plot. [IM-2046]
  • Corrected the default file name for pop-out plots that are being exported to a CSV file. [IM-2172]
  • Fixed a context menu discrepancy where the wrong list of what could be plotted was being shown for a pop-out plot when there was more than one plot present on the screen. [IM-2189]
  • Fixed a traceback error that was being encountered when using Ungroup from the context menu in the Rigid Groups table. [IM-2149]
  • Motion model export operations will now remember the last directory that you used to export the .mdl file in the current session. [IM-2064]
  • Corrected an MDL export problem affecting motion contacts that had the Precise Contact Event option enabled. [IM-2170]
  • Fixed a scaling problem affecting the units consistency factor (UCF) for motors/actuators in MDL files exported with the CGS units system. [IM-2173]
  • Corrected the location of distributed torques in exported MDL files. [IM-2187]
  • Introduced datasets for bushing rates associated with individualized and advanced flexible joints being exported to MDL files. [IM-2124]
  • Changed the location used for the part center of gravity associated with a massless point support, so that it is not global (0,0,0) but is instead placed at the location of the support itself when the model is exported to an MDL file. [IM-2146]
  • Fixed a Python error for models with contacts and tracers. [IN-17333]
