Create Rectangular, Circular, or Triangular Spots
Create an entity to which loads, constraints, or other boundary conditions may be later applied.
- In the Project Tree, click on the Assembly branch.
- In the Assembly workbench toolbar, click > Create spot.
- In the dialog, click the Rectangle, Circle or Triangle tab.
-
Specify the spot dimensions.
Tip: You can use spot size dimensions to degenerate areal spots into points and lines. For Rectangular and Triangular spots:
- Set A=0 or B=0 and the spot will become a line.
- Set A=B=0 and the spot will become a point.
For Circular spots:- Set D1=D2 and the spot will become an arc/circle.
- Set D1=D2=0 and the spot becomes a point.
-
Position the spot in the modeling window by doing one
of the following:
- Right-click and drag to move the spot on the model. Left-click and drag to rotate the spot on its center.
- Define the X, Y, and Z coordinates for Coordinates of spot center projection. Define the Angle to rotate the spot.
After the spot is dimensioned and positioned, it is projected on the model surface in the view direction (normal to the screen), and the projected domain is the actual geometry of the spot used in the analysis. - Define where the spot will be applied.
- Optional: Left-click any point in the model to change the view normal.
-
Click OK.
The spot appears in the Assembly > Part branch in the Project tree.
