Export Geometry and Results

Export geometry and simulation results for use in another application.

Tip: If the other application doesn't convert units automatically, you need to change the unit system in Inspire Mold before exporting.

Export Geometry

Export the entire model using the Save As command, or export selected objects using the Save Selected command.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • To export the entire model, select File > Save As.
    • To export only selected objects, first select the objects, and then select File > Save Selected.
  2. Choose a folder, enter a file name, and select a file type.
  3. Click Save.

Export an Optimized Shape as an STL File

Export an optimized shape as an STL file, a standard format supported by many CAD systems.

  1. Click an optimized shape.
  2. Select File > Save Selected or press Shift+F12.
  3. Choose a folder and enter a file name.
  4. For Save as type, select STL (*.stl).
  5. Click Save.

Fit Surfaces to an Optimized Shape

Fit surfaces to an optimized shape, and then save it in the desired file format.

  1. Right-click an optimized shape, and then click Fit Surfaces to Optimized Shapes on the context menu.
  2. Select File > Save Selected or press Shift+F12.
  3. Choose a folder, enter a file name, and select a file type.
  4. Click Save.

Export an Optimized Shape to Inspire Studio

Export an optimized shape to Inspire Studio using the Save to Evolve option on the context menu.

  1. Right-click an optimized shape, and then click Save to Inspire Studio on the context menu.
  2. Open Inspire Studio.
  3. On the Inspire tab of the modeling toolbar, click the Optimization Shapes Browser tool.
  4. Double-click the image of the optimized shape to import it into Inspire Studio.

Export a FEM File to HyperMesh

Export a FEM file to HyperMesh using the Export button on the Run Optimization window.

  1. On the Optimize tool, click Run Optimization.
  2. Click the Export button.
  3. Choose a folder, type a file name, and then click Save.
Inspire Mold writes the FEM file to that location, using the currently active unit system for the model.

Locate Blank Fit and Blank Nesting Analysis Results

Blank fit and blank nesting analysis results are exported automatically as an .iges file, which you can find in the run history folder.

  1. On the File menu, click the Preferences button.
  2. At the left of the Preferences window, select Category > Inspire.
  3. At the right of the Preferences window, under Run Options, check the Run History Path to locate the folder where the .iges file is saved. You can change the folder where it is saved by clicking Run History Path, clicking the folder icon, and then choosing a different folder.

Export Analysis Results

Export a data deck by clicking the Export button after running an analysis.

In Inspire Extrude Metal, you can analyze metal extrusion, tool deflection, and quenching. In Inspire Extrude Polymer, you can analyze polymer extrusion and tool deflection. Depending on the type of analysis, Inspire Extrude will generate a .grf, .hx, or .fem file.

  1. After running an analysis using one of the Analysis tools, click the Export button.
  2. Choose a folder, type a file name, and then click Save.
The data deck is exported using the current unit system for the model.
