The environment variable ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH is used to point to the license file or server. This has changed. In the past, the environment variable was either LM_LICENSE_FILE or ALTAIR_LM_LICENSE_FILE.
Altair License Manager 14.5.1 (and updates) is required for Altair 2021.2 and its updates. HyperWorks 9.1, 10.1, 11.0, 12.0, 13.0, 14.0, 2017, 2018, and 2019, as well as Altair 2020 are compatible with Altair License Manager 14.5.1.
All applications using the licensing system have the added capability to log a project string on the server during license checkouts.
Global licensing restricts client usage to the appropriately licensed Global Zone. There are three Global Zones defined by Altair.
Altair provides a cloud-based license server solution known as Hosted Altair Units (HAU). This allows customers to use either/or a traditional on-premise license server or an Altair hosted server managed via Altair One. Altair One is Altair’s global customer portal.
The installation process creates an Altair group under All Programs on the Start menu for Windows 7 and under the Apps menu for Windows 10.
