Adjusting parameters of the Euler method

Adjusting parameters

There are a certain number of adjusting parameters of Euler method. The software sets these parameters in an automatic way.

The default values are the current values that ensure the correct operation of the method under “standard” conditions of use. Under certain particular conditions, the user can modify these values. A list of the adjusting parameters of Euler method is presented in the paragraph below.

Set state variables to zero

In transient applications, certain conditions can improve the solving process.

In MT 3D (with scalar model), state variables are initialized to zero by default. This initialization improves (ensures and accelerates) convergence for the nonlinear problems.

In MT 2D (with vector model), state variables are not initialized to zero by default. This "continuation of the process" improves (ensures and accelerates) convergence for the nonlinear problems.

A solving option enables to modify this initialization. Provided options are as follows:

  • all state variables are set to zero (by default)
  • no state variable is set to zero
