The HX-Forge Utility menu lists options for importing a model into HyperMesh, selecting and assigning material properties, defining and applying boundary conditions, defining process conditions, and exporting data files to be used with HX-Forge solver. The buttons in the Utility menu provide shortcuts to native HyperMesh panels and access to pop-up menus and other macro panels. These macros are organized in a logical process flow.

The following options are available on the main page of the HX-Forge Utility menu for Forging Analysis.

Data files for HX-Forge can be created either with the use of the Forging Wizard or by manually following a sequence of steps.

Clear Temp Nodes

Clear all the temporary nodes, if any, in the model

Model Setup Tools

Forging Wizard

Select Units

Choose the units used in modeling the problem

Material Data

Select materials from a material database and assign material properties to components. View viscosity/flow stress graphs for materials.

Boundary Conditions

Inspect/Setup BCs

View and assign boundary conditions on element faces

Check Undefined BC

Identify external faces without loads

Check Duplicate BC

Identify duplicate loads

Process Data

Create/Edit Tool Set

To create and edit tool set information

Setup Process Builder

Specify forging sequence and information for all the forging stages

Specify process control parameters

Extract Points

Define solution-monitoring points

Model Summary

Inspect summary data such as number of elements and loads

Export Data

Export/Launch Solver

Start the HX-Forge solver using the current model, an existing data deck, or a restart file.
