The Deformed (deformed shape) panel plots displacement analysis results.

Use this function to see the motion of your structure after analysis.  You can display both the original structure and the deformed shape to see the total amount of movement, or view the deformed shape by itself.  You can also create an animation sequence of the structure's movement that shows the motion of the structure in a series of frames, based on what the analysis code has predicted the structure will do.

This function requires that you use a results file containing displacement data.

If you enable the Launch HV after creating H3D option (located in the Options panel), then the H3D>HV button allows you to generate an H3D file and automatically invoke HyperView for viewing geometry.  The H3D>HV button is available in the Animation secondary panel that displays while animating.

How do I...

expand-green-10Plot the deformed structure
1.Click simulation =.

A list of available simulations is displayed.

2.Select the name of the simulation that should be used to calculate the deformed shape of the structure.
3.Click the toggle immediately before model units =.
4.Select model units = or scale factor as the type of results multiplication to be performed.
5.Click the upper switch to choose the method of coloring the undeformed structure.
6.If you select as selected, click undef color and select the desired color from the pop-up menu.
7.Click the lower switch to choose the method of coloring the deformed structure.
8.If you select as selected, click deform color and select the desired color from the pop-up menu.
9.Click full size if you want the menu to be removed and a full screen plot displayed.  To return to the menu, click a mouse button.
10.If desired, click title = and enter a title for the plot.
11.Click hidden line if you want to generate a hidden line plot of the deformed structure.
12.Click deform.

Comments

The use elem color option colors the elements in the undeformed or deformed structure the same color as the element.
The use background option colors the undeformed or deformed structure the same color as your background.
The as selected option allows you to select a constant color for all of the elements in the undeformed or deformed structure.
To plot only the deformed structure, select the coloring method use background for the undeformed structure.
When a hidden line plot is generated, only the deformed structure is plotted.

expand-green-10Animate a structure using linear results
1.Click simulation =.

A list of available simulations is displayed.

2.Select the name of the simulation that should be used to calculate the deformed shape of the structure.
3.Click data type = and select the name of the data type that should be used to calculate the deformed shape of the structure.
4.Click the toggle and select model units = or scale factor.
5.Enter the appropriate model units or scale factor value.
6.Click frames = and enter the number of frames to be used in the animation sequence.
7.If desired, click title = and enter a title for the plot.
8.Click hidden line if you want to generate hidden line animation of the structure.
9.Click linear.

An Animation secondary panel displays.

Comments

If your graphics device is not capable of generating stress contour animation sequences, data type = is ignored.
If stress contour animation is not desired, set the data type to none (blank).  This allows HyperMesh to bypass contour calculations when generating the animation sequences.
The animation sequence may be saved in a replay file for later play back.  To save the animation sequence, click create replay from the Animation menu.

expand-green-10Animate a structure using modal results
1.Click simulation =.

A list of available simulations is displayed.

2.Select the name of the simulation that should be used to calculate the deformed shape of the structure.
3.Click data type =.
4.Select the name of the data type that should be used to calculate the deformed shape of the structure.
5.Click the toggle to select model units = or scale factor.
6.Enter the appropriate model units or scale factor value.
7.Click frames = and enter the number of frames to be used in the animation sequence.  In modal animation the number of frames determines how many frames are used for each quarter of a sinusoidal function.  The total number of frames is determined by the formula (frames-1)*4.
8.If desired, click title = and enter a title for the plot.
9.Click hidden line if you want to generate hidden line animation of the structure.
10.Click modal.

An Animation secondary panel displays.

expand-green-10Move to the previous or next simulation or data type

Click prev or next.

Undo: Click the opposite function.

Comments

The prev or next button that is on the same line as the simulation changes only the simulation.  The prev or next button that is on the same line as the data type changes only the data type.

If the simulation or data type is at the first position, as found in the results file, selecting prev results in the simulation or data type being assigned to the last position in the file.

If the simulation or data type is at the last position, as found in the results file, selecting next results in the simulation or data type being assigned to the first position in the file.

expand-green-10Set the reference frame for animation
1.Click reference.
2.From the pop-up menu, select the three nodes that define the coordinate system to be used as a reference point.
3.Click set frame.

Comments

To delete a reference frame, click return after entering the reference frame sub menu.
