Import and Merge Geometry

Import and merge a saved model with the current model.

  1. Select File > Import or press Ctrl+I.
  2. In the Import File dialog, select a file. You can filter by file type and show previous versions of models.
  3. Click Open.
Tip:
  • The imported model is inserted as an assembly under the top-level folder in the Model Browser. To move the imported model within the model hierarchy, drag the folder in the Model Browser.
  • When you open a legacy Inspire stmod file, the History Browser will show a construction feature with the name StmodImport, which will work the same way as a CAD import.

Resolve Geometry Import Errors

Resolve geometry errors that are automatically detected on import.

When you import a file, Inspire checks for geometry errors in the model. If it finds any problems, you will receive the following error message:

  1. Click Yes to attempt to repair the errors.
Note: You will not receive a confirmation as to whether all errors were corrected.
  2. To check whether all parts in the model are solid, right-click the column header in the Model Browser, select the Mass checkbox, and click OK. All parts that have nonzero masses are solid geometry.
