Build a Heavy Truck Model

The vehicle library is installed as a part of the normal MotionView installation.

  1. From MotionView, click Model > Set Wizard Paths.
    The Set wizard library is displayed.
  2. Select the Heavy Truck option from the Wizard library drop-down menu to browse and select the required file paths or use the default file paths.
  3. Click Model > Assembly Wizard.
    The Heavy Truck – Model Type window opens.
  4. Select the type of model to build and then click Next.
    Option Description
    Front end of truck Builds with the help of one of the two front suspensions and corresponding suspension subsystems (shock absorbers, springs, stabilizer bars, and so on) and it will also allow you to select an appropriate steering system to go with the front suspension. The model can be kinematic or compliant and will support all of the half-truck analysis events, such as ride, roll, steer and K&C.
    Rear end of truck The Rear end of truck builds one of the three rear suspensions and also builds the subsystems associated with the suspensions. The model can be kinematic or compliant and will support all of the half truck analysis events, such as ride, roll, steer and K&C.
    Full truck with driver The Full truck with driver model type builds the model with steering, front suspension, rear suspension, powertrain, driveline, and driver signal generator.
  5. Select the required options from the Truck body and Cabin body drop-down menu and click Next.
  6. Select the required option from the suspension and Powertrain drop-down menu and click Next.
  7. If building a front suspension, select the required options in the steering subsystems page.
  8. Select the required options from the spring and stabilizer bars drop-down menu and click Next.
    Based on the suspension type selected from the suspension drop-down menu, the spring options are modified accordingly.
  9. Select the required option from the shocks drop-down menu.
  10. Select the required jounce and rebound bumpers from the respective drop-down menu and click Next.
  11. If building a rear suspension heavy truck, select the required driveline systems from the Rear driveline drop-down menu.
    Based on the suspension type selected from the Rear suspension drop-down menu, the Rear driveline options are modified accordingly.
  12. Click Finish to complete the assembly process and exit the Assembly Wizard.
