EDEM Menu

The EDEM menu provides access to tools related to the MotionSolve - EDEM cosimulation interface.

The following options can be accessed from this menu:

Create EDEM Subsystem

Displays a panel that enables you to transfer geometry to EDEM and set up the EDEM system for co-simulation.

See the Bulk Material Interaction topic for additional information.

Run MS/EDEM Cosimulation in Batch Mode

This tool helps to run the cosimulation in batch mode.

The inputs required are as follows:
MotionView MDL or MotionSolve XML file A valid MotionView (*.mdl) or a MotionSolve (*.xml) that is set up for cosimulation with EDEM.
EDEM input deck A valid EDEM file (*.dem) set up for cosimulation with MotionSolve.
EDEM server wait time [s] EDEM server wait time in seconds to establish connection with MotionSolve.

Cosimulation in batch can also be run between a local install of EDEM and MotionView/MotionSolve from the Windows command prompt or console in Linux. The msedemcosim batch script is available ~altair_install/hwdesktop/utility/mbd/edem.

Syntax:
Windows msedemcosim.bat <mbd_path> <edem_path>
Linux msedemcosim.sh <mbd_path> <edem_path>
where:
msedemcosim.bat
Windows 64 version of the script file.
msedemcosim.sh
Linux 64 version of the script file.
<mbd_path>
Path to the MotionView/MotionSolve model (required).
Can be either an MDL file or an XML file.
<edem_path>
Path to the EDEM model (required).

Generate H3D from EDEM Results

This tool helps to convert EDEM particle simulation results to animation H3D that can be visualized in HyperView.

The inputs required are as follows:

EDEM input deck EDEM file (*.dem) that contains simulation results.
H3D units Length units needed in H3D.
