Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We have answers!

Where are the Run Files?

  1. On the Analysis icon, click the Run History icon.

  2. On the Run History dialog, right-click a run, then select Open Run Folder.
The files from your analysis are generally saved to the Run folder unless specified otherwise in File > Preferences > Run Options.

Where Is the Clamp Force Result?

The clamp force result is in the file c2mRun.out in the Run folder. This file has input and tabulated results for all segments of your analysis.

Can I View Results While My Analysis Runs?

Once a filling analysis passes 5% completion, you can view the results.

Where are the Shear Rate Results?

You can find the Strain Rate (shear rate) and other results in the .h3d file in the Run folder. The .h3d file can be post processed in HyperView.

How Do I Get Results Data in Excel for Plotting?

The specific solver results for filling, packing, and cooling are saved in the .csv files in the Run folder. You can open the .csv files directly in Excel.

Which File Includes the Fiber Orientation Tensor from an Analysis?

You can find the data for the fiber orientation tensor in the file c2mRun_fiber_elemental_results.xml in the Run folder.

What Files Do I Need for a Structural or Impact Analysis on a Proposed Design with Fiber Orientation?

You need the following .xml file with its three accompanying .fem files from the Run folder:

  • c2mRun_fiber_elemental_results.xml
  • c2mRun_fiber_main.fem
  • c2mRun_fiber_grid.fem
  • c2mRun_fiber_elem.fem
The .xml file contains the Fiber Orientation Tensor (FOT). This file is created at the end of the filling analysis when fiber orientation is specified in the detailed analysis run. The .fem files are needed in HyperMesh to map the FOT to a dissimilar structural FE model.
Tip: Visit our Training website to enroll in the course: Simulation Lifecycle of Short Fiber Reinforced Injection Molded Products. This course features molding simulation and the incorporation of the FOT into a structural analysis using any solver.

What Files do I Need to Perform a Warp Analysis with Fiber Orientation?

To run a warp analysis with fiber orientation on a proposed design, you need the following .xml file with its three accompanying .fem files from the Run folder:

  • c2mRun_fiber_elemental_results.xml
  • c2mRun_fiber_main.fem
  • c2mRun_fiber_grid.fem
  • c2mRun_fiber_elem.fem
The .xml file contains the Fiber Orientation Tensor (FOT). This file is created at the end of the filling analysis when fiber orientation is specified in the detailed analysis run. The .fem files are needed in HyperMesh to map the FOT to a dissimilar structural FE model.
In addition, you need these files:
  • c2mRun_INITIAL_TEMP.fem
  • c2mRun_warp.fem
  • c2mRun_warp_grid.fem
  • c2mRun_warp_elem.fem

The file c2mRun_INITIAL_TEMP.fem is generated at the end of the cooling analysis and provides the initial temperature data required to conduct a warp analysis. The additional .fem files are also produced at the end of the cooling analysis and can be used as the structural FE model directly with some manual editing.

Tip: Re-mapping the tensor is not necessary if using the above *warp*.fem files that are generated by the solver.
