Vents

A vent is an exit for the air as the fluid advances.

Venting allows air to escape so that the plastic can fill the molding cavity. If the air is not evacuated, the cavity will not properly fill, resulting in defects such as short shots, burning, voids, or dimensional variation.

Vents are typically machined on the parting lines, where the end of the fill reaches the edge of the mold.

Add Vents

  1. Click the Tooling icon.

  2. Click the Add Vents icon.

  3. Place the vent.
    • To create a vent, left-click on a line in your geometry, then drag to a desired stopping point.
