Click the toggle to select the 8 bit color or 24 bit color mode.

By default, the 8 bit color mode is selected.  The 8 bit color mode reduces the AVI file size by 1/3.  However, because of the limited colors available in 8 bit mode (256 only), the color quantization is coarse. (It reduces the color depth from 16.7 million to 256.) Selecting any other combination for legend colors yields poor color quantization.  Also, in 8 bit mode, the animations are recorded with discrete contours, irrespective of your selection of blended contours or discrete contours. In 24 bit color mode, there are no assumptions or restrictions.
