The Section panel allows you to create, update, or remove sections.  Section properties for shell elements (die and the blank) are defined using the SectShll card image.  Element formulation, number of integration points, and nodal thickness properties are defined by editing the section card image.

 

How do I...

In the Incremental_RADIOSS user profile:

1.Click section = and enter the name of the tool section.
2.Click thickness = and enter 0.100 (tool section).
3.Click card image = and select P1_SHELL from the list.
4.Click create.

 

In the Incremental_Dyna user profile:

1.Click section = and enter the name of the tool section.
2.Click thickness = and enter 0.100 (tool section).
3.Click card image = and select SectShll from the list.
4.Click create.

In the Incremental_RADIOSS user profile:

1.Click on section = and enter the name of the blank section.
2.Click on thickness = and enter the blank thickness.
3.Click card image = and select P1_SHELL from the list.
4.Click on create.

 

In the Incremental_Dyna user profile:

1.Click on section = and enter the name of the blank section.
2.Click on thickness = and enter the blank thickness.
3.Click card image = and select SectShll from the list.
4.Click on create.

In the Incremental_RADIOSS user profile:

1.Click on section = and select the blank section to modify.
2.Click on edit card.
3.Click Ishell to switch element formulation as necessary.
4.Click N and enter 3, 5, or 7 integration points through the thickness.
5.Click on create.
Note:The default settings for HyperForm are:

ELFORM =

Ishell=24

QEPH shell formulation for springback analysis

Ishell=4

modified Belytschko shell formulation for speed-up

N =

3 integration points through the thickness (default)

 

5 or 7 may be necessary for springback analysis

 

In the Incremental_Dyna user profile:

1.Click on section = and select the blank section to modify.
2.Click on edit card.
3.Click ELFORM and select 16 to switch to a Fully Integrated Element Formulation.
4.Click NIP and enter 3, 5, or 7 integration points through the thickness.
5.Click on create.
Note:The default settings for HyperForm are:

ELFORM =

2 (default, Belytschko-Tsay)

16 for Fully Integrated Element, recommended for Springback Analysis

NIP =

3 integration points through the thickness (default)

 

5 or 7 may be necessary for springback analysis

Update a section:

1.Select the section to be updated.
2.Update the thickness, card image or another attribute using edit card.
3.Click update.

 

Remove a section:

1.Select the section to be removed.
2.Click remove.
