The FLD Curves panel allows you to specify the forming limit curves (FLC) to be used for the evaluation of formability at the end of the analysis.  For standard draw quality steels, an FLC based on the Keeler and Goodwin law can be used.  Using this law, the FLOequation, the lowest point in the FLC, is computed using the thickness and strain hardening exponent, n.  By default HyperForm uses this FLC.  However, for Aluminum and special steel grades, the Keeler and Goodwin law based FLC may not hold.  For such cases, HyperForm provides you with the option either to create a new FLC or to read an existing one from a library of FLCs.

From the Setup menu, select FLD Curves to use this panel.

How do I...

expand-green-10Create a new FLC
1.Select the create subpanel.
2.Click curve: and enter a name for the FLC.
3.Enter the values for the minor and major strains.

The value should be engineering strain quantities.  A minimum of 3 points are required on either side of the major strain axis.

4.Click create.

The FLC becomes part of the current HyperForm model file.

expand-green-10Update an FLC
1.Select the create subpanel.
2.Click curve: = and select the FLC to be updated.

Default_FLC is calculated internally by HyperForm and cannot be updated.

3.Enter the new strain values.
4.Click update.

expand-green-10Retrieve an FLC from an existing FLC library
1.Select the library subpanel.
2.Click file = and select the FLC library file from your directory.
3.Click load under Curves in file to make the library file available.
4.Click the specific FLC you want to retrieve.

Use the up and down buttons to scroll through the loaded FLC library.

5.Click >> to retrieve it into memory, that is, make it one of the FLCs for the current HyperForm model file.

expand-green-10Create a new FLC library
1.Select the library subpanel.
2.Click file = and enter a name for the new FLC library file.
3.Click reset under Curves in file to clear this column.
4.Click the specific FLC under Curves in memory that you want to add to the new library file.
5.Click << to add this FLC to the new library file.
6.Click save to save the new file to your directory.
