The following issues were resolved for the 2021 releases.

  • Fixed an issue with disconnected groups and overlapping parts. [IN-22348]
  • Enhanced tooltips are now translated. [IN-22291]
  • Fixed an issue where loads/connectors were removed after exporting STL files. [IN-22301]
  • Fixed an issue where runs would hang at 58% complete (Error 3423). [IN-22134]
  • Fixed a segmentation error when clicking File New icon after opening an stmod file with finite element data. [IN-20008]
  • Removed the Altair One run option. [IN-22374]
  • Fixed an issue when creating a concentrated mass applied at a point. [IN-22336]
  • Fixed an issue where the Lattice Fill tool was failing when using the Opposite Face option. [IN-22370]
  • Fixed an issue with attaching or disassociating concentrated mass part from an edge. [IN-22366]
  • Fixed a crash when using the PolyNURBS Pave tool. [VWT-1731]
  • Changed the default color scheme for motion plot legends and curves to use red, green, and blue (RGB) for the first three curves to mimic the RGB color convention used on the global XYZ triad. [IM-2957]
  • Renamed one of the reference frame options on the velocity initial conditions microdialog from "Free" to "Positionable" to make it clearer that you can position that reference frame yourself. [IM-3246]
  • Updated coupler tour mode behavior for the By Joints option so that if the first joint for the coupler pair is manually selected (by screen picking), it will now be retained as you use the tour arrows to cycle through the second joint candidates. [IM-3364]
  • Changed plot dismissal behavior so that when exiting motion analysis review mode, any plots with the Show During Analysis option enabled are automatically dismissed. [IM-3531]
  • Fixed source of traceback errors seen when running motion analysis immediately after performing an ungroup operation from the Rigid Groups table. [IM-3636]
  • Fixed an issue where using the Hide All Groups option from the Rigid Groups context menu was erroneously hiding some parts that did not belong to any of the rigid groups present in the current model configuration. [IM-3647]
  • Corrected an issue where using the Reverse All operation in Model Configuration was causing some actuators to appear active in the graphics window but not in the Model Browser. [IM-3651]
  • Fixed a problem where the locked X axis limits were not being honored for a plot that had the Show During Analysis option enabled. [IM-3655]
  • Corrected a coil spring positioning problem seen when using the Move tool to drag an endpoint onto a snap point location. [IM-3662]
  • Fixed an issue where the part order for a ball and socket joint was changing unexpectedly when entering the Joints tool and using the Flip Part Order checkbox did not help. [IM-3678]
  • Updated the behavior of the Profile Editor so that holding down the Shift key when dragging table data will maintain the y-values as the points are moved. [IM-3686]
  • Corrected logic for the Review button on alert dialog so that it does a better job in selecting the part having the motion contacts meshing issue, rather than both the part and its parent assembly. [IM-3694]
  • Improved joint coupler error handling to catch modeling errors, such as using a flexible implicit joint instead of either a rigid or virtual joint. [IM-3700]
  • Fixed a problem when using part instances in the Optimize Part workflow in which the first run would be successful, but a second run would fail with a No Shape Created alert. [IM-3715]
  • Fixed an issue with model configurations where some corruption of a rigid group could occur, leading to traceback errors. [IM-3774, IM-3798]
  • Changed behavior of the Some Force Vectors Are Unavailable warning alert dialog (m_error_45) so that it does not keep popping up repeatedly after you click Continue for the current model session. [IM-3797]
  • Updated motion plotting of Dissipated Energy and Energy Rate (for dampers) and Power (for motor and actuator), to address an inconsistency seen in energy units conversion between different units systems. [IM-3874]
  • Fixed a problem where an application crash could occur while renaming rigid groups using the context menu in the rigid groups table. [IM-3822]

  • Updated the plot range fitting behavior so that it will exclude curves whose appearance has been hidden by using the clickable legend. [IM-3654].
  • Fixed the browser in the Plot Manager so that it once again displays information in parentheses for joints, actuators, and motors, which had been missing from the 2021 release. [IM-3665]
  • Updated motion animation file handling to allow generation of the .h3d file even in the case of analysis failure or when manually stopping the motion analysis before it has reached the specified end time. [IM-3666]
  • Re-established the default value for penetration depth in motion contacts to be 0.1 mm, bringing it back to the value used previously in 2019.1 and earlier releases. [IM-3668]
  • Updated the behavior of Reset > Visible Defaults on the motion contacts microdialog so that it does not alter values that are not currently being shown on the screen. [IM-3672]
  • Fixed the Export Image feature in the Profile Editor so that it works as intended again. [IM-3714]
  • Corrected entries in the Plot Manager browser to better handle the case when objects share the exact same name (are not unique). [IM-3724]
  • Fixed a traceback error seen in motion contact models when specifying HM as the SkinMesherMV setting via the devPreference.xml file. [IM-3592]
  • Fixed traceback error seen when entering the Joints tool for reported use case. [IM-3679]
  • Fixed an error that mistakenly caused the Intersecting Parts Found in Model warning to appear and to subsequently prevent Analyze Part workflows from proceeding forward. [IN-23666]
  • Fixed an issue where models created in Inspire 2021 that had parts or assemblies deleted or imported in between runs could not be reopened. [IN-23961]
  • Fixed an issue where the Convert to Mass feature was not giving the correct answer because the mass moment of inertia value was not being converted with the mass. [IN-23718]
  • Fixed an issue with incorrect thickness when running a reanalysis after gauge optimization. [IN-23592]
  • Fixed an issue where STL instances did not work correctly after using the Section Cut tool. [IN-23534]

  • Added a check box to refresh query results with the latest working revision when opening files from a PDM system. [IN-18710]
  • Added the ability to generate a run time .stmod file with no results from SimSolid runs. [IN-21520]

  • Inspire now supports newer versions of NX through version 1934. [IN-22244]

  • Introduced new cursor badge in motion plotting to indicate when a double-click action will create a pop-out plot instead of performing the usual fit operation. [IM-2922]
  • Changed border color to blue for data points viewed in the Profile Editor for table profile curves. [IM-3276]
  • Improved the usability of the Plot Manager by allowing a single click on .csv data at top level to automatically plot all components underneath without requiring individual component selection. [IM-3577]
  • Fixed placement of torsion spring dampers to be on the end of pin joints for the clevis use case. [IM-3375]
  • Fixed a traceback error that could be seen after a part that was attached to a concentrated mass or another part using connectors. [IM-3559]
  • Corrected a traceback error encountered when running a coupler model after a part replace operation. [IM-3365]
  • Removed a bottleneck in motion animation that was making playback slower than expected in release versions after 2019.3. [IM-3380]
  • Fixed orientation problems affecting the model configuration of structures forces. This was seen when using the Make Current Frame the New Design Position button. [IM-3425]
  • Changed the default location of the Create button for the Rigid Groups tool so that it is near the first part selected. It is now less likely to appear at the window border or to keep shifting as parts are selected. [IM-3449]
  • Deprecated the MDL export option, "MotionView 2019 or older mdl file (*.mdl)". [IM-3454]
  • Changed data entry for the Phase Shift parameter on the Oscillating profile to disallow entry of negative values. [IM-3464]
  • Fixed a traceback error that was seen when using a drag-and-drop operation to open .stmod files. [IM-3467]
  • Improved plot fitting operations to do a better job including peaks seen when running with freeze plots and the Show During Analysis option. [IM-3473]
  • Updated MDL export so that the part inertia is now a better match with what one sees from the Property Editor inside Inspire. [IM-3479]
  • Updated the Ground tool so that tooltips are shown when hovering over parts. [IM-3513]
  • Simplified selection behavior of motion contact glyphs so that two-step selections are not required for editing. [IM-3514]
  • Fixed the page count in the Plot Manager, which was not refreshing properly. [IM-3520]

  • Fixed an issue where coil spring manipulators where seen to jump unpredictably when rotating the model after using panning operations. [IM-3545]
  • Fixed a traceback error that happened when exiting motion animation where many individual contact forces were being displayed with the Force Explorer. [IM-3557]
  • Updated the legend label text to be less verbose when plotting .csv data components. [IM-3569]
  • Improved speed of plotting motion results for multi-selections, which had slowed down when Undo was first introduced in the Plot Manager. [IM-3574]
  • Fixed the source of an application crash encountered when clicking on the Review button for error handling alert (m_error_37). [IM-3581]
  • Updated default ordering of entities in the Plot Manager browser. [IM-3594]
  • Fixed a solver calculation error seen in Friction Power plots that are available from motion contacts. [IM-3603]
  • Fixed an application crash that occurred when using the up/down keys while reviewing motion plots and changing cursor focus between the browser and a plot. [IM-3610]
