What's New

New features available with Altair Control™.

Installation and Management

Control has optimised installation and management via a Docker hosted containerized implementation allowing for a lightweight python installer that downloads software images and then configures and deploys the containers. The Control installer provides the following installation package options, allowing some components to be installed separately. Using the installer in an interactive mode, these packages can be installed in a single installation process, singularly, consecutively or distributively.
  • Control (Monitor, Configure, Analyze, Simulate)
  • Cloud
  • Analyze Data Collector
The Cloud package is dependent on the Control package, therefore the Control package must be installed before installing the Cloud package.

Cloud

Improvements to Cloud include:

  • A new GUI workflow for bursting scenario creation and management that has been optimized for scenario tuning and development.
  • Private cloud bursting through OpenStack
  • Define and adjust the optional expiry date and time for manually burst cloud nodes that triggers an automatic unburst.
  • Windows bursting with Azure and AWS.

Analyze

Improvements to Analyze include:

  • Performance optimized analyze configuration including testing up to 60 million records.
  • Analyze & Simulate data are now separated into their own data sources avoiding accidental mixing of data in analytics reporting.
  • Custom Resource reporting has been reinstated and verified (Custom Resource Hooks). Fore more information see Chapter 16 Custom Resource Hooks in the Control 2020.2 Administrator's Guide.
  • Control 2020.2 Default Charts guide is now available that explains each default chart and the calculations behind each chart.
  • New videos are available to introduce users to Analyze charts. Videos are available through the Control 2020.2 User Guide in the Tutorials topic and are available for download in the same location as the PDF documentation.
  • Data Dimensions improvements:
    • Robust data dimensions implementation.
    • Dimensions renamed to be more customer facing.
    • Descriptions of the dimensions available with Control 2020.2 are included in the Control 2020.2 Default Charts guide for better user understanding.
