SurfDrape

Map an object or multiple objects onto a face or multiple faces.

When selecting faces from a closed surface, select only one face. If it is an open surface, all faces can be selected. This is similar to the Stretch tool, but uses a surface as the reference object instead of a curve.

  1. On the ribbon, click the Modify tab.
  2. Click the SurfDrape icon.

  3. Click the object, and then right-click to confirm.
  4. Click the face, and then right-click to confirm.
The object will be mapped onto to the target faces and can be repositioned.
  5. To change the plane of the object on the surface, in the guide bar, choose from the following:
    • XY
    • XZ
    • YZ
  6. To reposition the object, in the modeling window, drag the origin.
If the object is dragged outside of the face the operation will fail.
  7. To offset the object, in the modeling window, do one of the following:
    • Drag the offset arrow.
    • Click the offset arrow, and then enter a Distance.
  8. To scale the object, in the modeling window, drag the blue handle.
  9. Right-click and mouse through the check mark to exit, or double-right-click.
