SWID Tagging
Software identification (SWID) tags record unique information about an installed software application, usually including its name, edition, version, whether it is part of a bundle, and more. These tags help support software inventory and asset management initiatives.
Upon installation, Monarch Classic creates an SWID tag file and places this file in C:\ProgramData\regid.1993-02.com.datawatch. The file is named using the following convention: <regid><product_name><product_version>_<product_language>.swidtag
where:
-
<product_name> is Monarch Complete
-
<product_version> is the major version, i.e. 16
-
<product_language> is the language, currently “en” or “fr”
Example: regid.1993-02.com.datawatch_Monarch_16_en.swidtag
Monarch Complete's SWID tag file allows system administrators to determine, among others:
-
Whether the current installation has been activated, is deactivated, or is in trial mode
-
If activated, what method of activation was applied
-
If activated via a license file or activation code, whether the license is a subscription or perpetual license
-
Whether the product installed is Monarch Complete Classic or Monarch Complete
