Post Processing

Use SnRD Post Processing tab to load and process the results.

The post-processing operation requires the model used for analyzing the squeak and rattle phenomena. Post-processing will require the solver deck (.FEM) exported from the pre-processing module. This solver deck is used throughout post-processing for creation of contour plots. Below are the steps to post process results-

  1. Using the file browser option , browse and select the OptiStruct solver file and the pre output CSV file for the Model File and Pre-Output File selections.
Note: SnRD will also look for the pre-output file and if present in the same folder as the solver file, it will be displayed in the Pre-Output File field. In case the pre-output file is not present in the same folder as the FEM file, a warning message will be displayed.
  2. Click under Results File(s) section.
A file browser window will appear. Browse and select the required .PCH and .H3D files.
Select file(s) gets listed in the Results file(s) table.
  3. The solver results file(s) is scanned for subcases, if found subcases are listed in Subcase Selection table.
  4. Click in Save Session File field.
A folder selection gets displayed. Browse and select the required folder. Name the session file and click Save.
Once selected, SnRD will write out all the required session files to in the folder during the execution.
  5. Select required analysis type for Analysis Type list. Available types are-
    • Rattle & Squeak
    • Rattle
    • Squeak
  6. Select the required line from Line(s) to analyze list.
You can select individual line or select All lines in the model.
  7. Enter the value for % statistical evaluation.
  8. Select required radio button from Session Type options. Available options are-
    • Summary
    • Full Analysis
  9. Click Execute .
This launches Altair Compose in batch mode to execute and plot the required results. A status window appears.
Once execution is complete, a execution success message appears. Click Close to close the message window.
    Figure 1.

This process plots all the required data and graphs to analyze the squeak and rattle issues. Using the plotted results, you can perform the further post processing steps.

Post Processing Options

Below is the description for Post Processing options.

Model File
Select the OptiStruct solver file (.FEM) exported from Export OptiStruct Solver File.
Pre-Output File
Select the pre output CSV file.
Learn more about Pre Output CSV
Results File(s)
- Select and add a results file for post processing.
- Delete a results file from the session.
Subcase Selection
All subcases in the selected results file are listed in the table.
You can choose for which subcase the results post processing should be done.
Save Session File
Name the session file and select a destination folder.
All the relevant session files are written in the selected folder.
Post Processing
Analysis Type
Rattle & Squeak
Analyze all the lines in the model.
Rattle
Analyze only the rattle lines.
Squeak
Analyze only the squeak lines.
Lines to analyze
Select All or only the required ELine to analyze.
% statistical evaluation
Specify the percentage of statistical evaluation based on the methodology implemented for studying the squeak and rattle analysis.
Value should be in the zero to 100 range.
If zero is provided, the values will not be sampled and a mean value will not be calculated. A global maximum will be taken into consideration in this case.
Session Type
Summary
Creates one session per subcase with only the overview pages for each of the squeak and rattle interface in the model.
Full Analysis
Creates one session per subcase, along with detailed plots for each of the interfaces present in the model
