Local and World Axes

Switch between the local and world x, y, z coordinate systems.

The local and world axes come into play most often when translating, rotating, and scaling.

To Do this Note
Switch to the local axes Click at the bottom right of the application window. In a local coordinate system, a single object uses its own center as the origin. Any object in 3D space has both local and global coordinates.
Switch to the world axes Click at the bottom right of the application window. In a world coordinate system, objects are located in relation to the world origin, which is a reference point unique to each object in 3D space.
