View Log Window

View entries of particular Log types.

Viewing Log Window

  1. Click Help > Log Window. The Log Window dialog displays.

NOTE: The Log Window dialog must be opened first and only after you can view the logs from Designer. Log Window dialog does not load or save logs when it is closed.

  1. Perform operations in Panopticon Designer (Desktop). When you encounter an error or exception, refer to the Log Window dialog to view the log entries.

The last N rows of the log are displayed (default is 1000 rows). Also, the default is Info, which is the most verbose Log level and where most queries will be logged.

  1. Aside from Info, you can opt to select any of the following Log levels:

    • Warning – Anything that can potentially cause errors in the application.

    • Error – Any error that is fatal to the operation, but not the service or application.

Example:

    • Exception – Error of high severity that prevents the application from starting or continuing.

NOTE: Selecting other Log levels clears the entries of previously selected level.

  1. Click to pause the logging. The button changes to .

Click to resume the logging.

  1. Clear the logs by clicking Clear Log.

  2. You can also opt to copy log entries by highlighting them and selecting Cut or Copy from the context menu.

Paste the copied text to a Notepad or into an e-mail.
