Altair SmartWorks Analytics

The Knowledge Studio Node

The Knowledge Studio Node is a desktop virtualization plugin for SmartWorks Analytics that allows remote access to a desktop installation of Knowledge Studio.

Prerequisite

  • An Execution Profile with an active session linked to the workflow

Steps

  1. From the Connect group of the Nodes tabbed page, drag and drop the Knowledge Studio node to the Workflow Canvas.

  2. Configure the Knowledge Studio node by double-clicking on the node or using the Open option provided in the node menu.

  3.

  4. In the Configuration page, specify a username and password to login to Knowledge Studio. Tick the Save user credentials box to avoid being asked for the same credentials in a later session. Click Login to start the remote Knowledge Studio desktop session.

  5.

  6. For ease of use, you can view and work on the Knowledge Studio plugin in full-screen mode by expanding the Session Configuration window, right-clicking on the Go fullscreen link under Display Settings at left-hand panel of the node configuration, and then selecting Open link in new tab or Open link in new window.

  7.

The plugin displays in full-screen mode in another tab or window, and the screen from which the plugin node was launched is updated as follows.

Refreshing the original browser tab returns the node to this tab.

  8. CSV files may be imported from the SmartWorks Analytics library to Knowledge Studio. To do so, open a project, drag and drop a File Import node from the Connect group of the Functional Palette to the workflow canvas, and then double-click on the node. The File Import dialog displays.

  9.

  10. Select Text as the Source File Type and then click the Browse icon to the right of the Source file name field.

  11. Files uploaded to the SmartWorks Analytics library are available in Altair Library (D:).

  12.

In the file explorer that displays, navigate to the Altair Library D: drive and then select and open the file to import. Run the node to generate a data frame node and import the table.

The data can be analyzed and modeled as usual in Knowledge Studio.

  13. When you have completed your work on the data, export the table back as a delimited text file to the Altair Library D: drive by connecting to a File Export node.

  14.

When the export operation is completed, the exported file is added to the SmartWorks Analytics library and can be used in workflows.
