Following is a list of known issues for the 2019 releases.

Known Issues: 2019.4

  • When running a SimSolid Analysis on a model that contains Inspire-generated fasteners, there’s a duplicate representation of the fastener in the modeling window. The one generated by SimSolid cannot be turned off (hidden). [IN-20057]
  • OptiStruct has constraints (degrees of freedom) that SimSolid does not support. [IN-20159, IN-20202]
  • Run Part Analysis is not supported in SimSolid (motion loads will use OptiStruct).
  • SimSolid does not support connectors to points or vertices. [IN-20789]
  • Local sequential runs produce an error when using the SimSolid solver. [IN-20645]
  • If a force, support, or constraint is moved outside the bounding box of the model, it will not animate with the results. [IN-20198]
  • Rigid connectors are not fully rigid, they transfer load with respect to distance. [IN-20791]
  • Incorrect radial bead pattern is causing an OptiStruct error. [IN-16311]
  • Undo/Redo operations are not supported in the Plot Manager for motion analysis results. [IM-2939]
  • Print3D analysis fails if the Documents folder is on a mapped network drive. [INP-797]
  • Optimization of the orientation in Print3D is only available when the undercut angle equals 45 degrees.

Fixed an issue where the online help did not open due to a web server upgrade.

Known Issues: 2019.3.2

  • The solver console window for Print3D is now hidden when running an analysis. Users can check the run status in the status bar at the bottom of the modeling window, or by using the Run Status tool on the Analyze icon.
  • Fixed an issue with text spacing in the Orientation table to improve the visualization when new rows are added.
  • Fixed several issues when using the Undo operation in Print3D.

Known Issues: 2019.3.1

  • When using the Print 3D module, materials should only be assigned or changed using the Print Part tool. Assigning a material using the part context menu or the Property Editor will instead assign an Inspire structural material, which should be ignored.
  • To change the orientation of all the print parts in an assembly simultaneously,you’ll need to first combine all of the parts in the assembly into a single solid using the Boolean Combine tool on the Geometry ribbon.
  • If you orient or rotate a part that belongs to a larger assembly in order to prepare the part for 3D printing, that part will no longer be in the correct orientation with respect to the assembly. We recommend creating an instance of the part to use for the 3D printing analysis and configuring off the original part prior to orienting the instance.
  • Callout base point moves erratically during animation. Since plotting is tied to callouts, this can lead to inaccurate plot values in some cases. [INP-435]

  • Unable to save *.mp4 videos on specific systems. [IN-19399]
  • Intermittent solver license error. [IN-18260]
  • Run failures due to element generation. [IN-18182, IN-18162, IN-16794]
  • Incorrect radial bead pattern produced using Topography optimization. [IN-16311]
  • Unable to run analysis or optimization with special characters in user name. [IN-14692]
  • The Closed status is not shown when running an analysis using the Sliding with Separation option. [IN-19522]
  • Session corruption with certain files where file saves create larger files and take time to save and import. [IN-19558]
  • Parts with internal cavities are filled during meshing. [IN-19597]

Known Issues: 2019.2

  • Crash when a section cut is applied to an element density result if Element Contour is selected. [IN-18894]
  • Problem meshing parts when large element sizes are requested where pressures are applied. [IN-18182]
  • Analysis sometimes fails due to an Error 15, negative Jacobian. [IN-16724]
  • Incorrectly writing radial bead pattern, which is causing the solver to fail. [IN-16311]
  • Run sometimes fails when using the DDM solver option. [IN-19054]
  • Columns for individual rates of Advanced flexible joints are not available from the Joints table. Currently you must use the Property Editor to make changes to the values. [IM-2652]
  • Currently the user is not alerted that some force vectors are unavailable for visualization in the Force Explorer when using a non-Global plots setting when running motion analysis. [IM-2475]

Known Issues: 2019.1

  • All NVIDIA drivers including and after version 411.95 (October 28th, 2018) are causing Inspire to crash when performing geometry operations such as Cut, Fillet, etc. We recommend you install an earlier version of the driver until we have a fix from NVIDIA. [IN-18315]
  • After relocating parts in the Model Browser, sometimes the Shape Explorer does not show the optimized result. [IN-17389]
  • Analysis and optimization runs occasionally fail to mesh on solid parts. [IN-15582], [IN-18120], [IN-18162]
  • Analysis and optimization sometimes fail to launch on computers using Japanese characters. [IN-17438], [IN-14692]
  • Issue when selecting the Print option from the Python command window. [IN-18233]
  • When using the Joints tool in regions containing a mixture of detected features, the tool may create a Planar joint instead of the expected Hinge or Cylindrical joint. In some cases this is a model-specific issue, where the cylindrical features of the mating parts are being checked internally to see if they meet co-axiality tolerances and the geometry did not pass the check. Please contact your local support for assistance and refer to this ticket number for assistance with your model. [IM-1665]
  • The Individualize operation for motion contacts can take longer than expected when there are lots of parts in the contact sets. [IM-2003]
  • When motion analysis is stopped manually, the run.log file will contain a benign error message at the end of the file that says "ERROR: Error encountered in analysis." [IM-2292]
  • If you manually change the Type of a joint, any Coupler that is dependent upon that joint may silently switch its type as well, without any notification or alert messaging. [IM-2305]
  • In some situations when creating a coupler you may find that the At Free Joints option becomes disabled when you actually would expect it to be available for use. This can happen if one or more of the parts associated with the free joint belong to a rigid group, you have been hiding visibility of joints, and/or there is some ambiguity about which joints should be coupled. You may find it easier in such cases to create the coupler using the By Joints option instead. [IM-2435]
  • Significant performance issues may be encountered when using Optimize Part on motion models with lots of motion contact force vectors. The workaround is to change your modeling approach to either reduce the number of motion contacts or to altogether avoid the use of motion contacts on the design space (or any of its non-design space partitions).   • F1 help for Run History and Run Status windows opens main help or error page. [IM-2456]

Known Issues: 2019

  • Motion analysis does not currently support the Run at Model Location option in the Preferences. It continues to use the Run History path setting instead.
  • Motion models with part instances that are exported to MDL have known issues where CADGraphic associations for geometry are problematic. Please avoid using part instancing when you intend to export models to MDL for use in MotionView. One workaround is to make a copy of the instanced part, taking care to just "paste" the part and not to use "paste instance." Substitute these new copies where the old part instances were in your mechanism, then delete the instances. Alternatively, you can go back to the original CAD software and de-instance from there.   • Shape Explorer is not visible in some cases. [IN-17389]
  • Performance issue with hidden parts. [IN-14232]
  • Issue with special characters in user names. [IN-14692]
  • Slow to export models when a large number of pressures are applied to a surface. [IN-15581]
